Uber Expands into Hotel Bookings with AI Innovation
Uber is now allowing users to book hotels directly through its app, marking a significant shift from its original ride-hailing service. Discover how AI is transforming Uber's offerings and what this means for travelers.

Uber's New Hotel Booking Feature
In a bold move, Uber has introduced a hotel booking feature within its app, allowing users in the U.S. to access over 700,000 hotels worldwide. This new service, announced during the annual Go-Get event, is part of Uber's strategy to evolve from a ride-hailing platform into a comprehensive travel solution.
The partnership with Expedia Group, led by Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi for 12 years, enables seamless hotel reservations. Additionally, Uber plans to integrate vacation rentals from Vrbo later this year. Key benefits for Uber One subscribers include:
- •20% discounts on select hotels
- •10% back in Uber Credits on all bookings
This expansion is powered by agentic AI tools, which have significantly reduced the development time for new features. According to Uber's CTO, Praveen Neppalli Naga, the time to launch such features has been halved, allowing for rapid innovation in response to user needs. With these advancements, Uber aims to become an all-in-one app for travel, dining, and more.
