Trust Issues: 85% of Enterprises Use AI, Only 5% Trust Them
A staggering 85% of enterprises are piloting AI agents, yet only 5% trust them enough to deploy. Discover the critical trust gap that could determine the future of AI in business.

The Trust Deficit in AI Adoption
Despite the rapid advancement of AI technology, a significant trust gap exists in enterprise adoption. According to a recent Cisco survey, while 85% of enterprises are experimenting with AI agents, only 5% have transitioned these agents into production. This stark contrast highlights a crucial issue: the need for a robust trust architecture to ensure safe and effective AI deployment.
Jeetu Patel, Cisco's President and Chief Product Officer, emphasized that the primary barrier to widespread adoption is not the technology itself but the lack of trust in these systems. He likened AI agents to teenagers—intelligent yet immature and prone to making mistakes. The consequences of these mistakes can be severe, as illustrated by an incident where an AI agent mistakenly deleted a live production database.
To address these concerns, Cisco is implementing strategies to enhance trust, including:
- •Protecting agents from external threats
- •Safeguarding the environment from potential agent errors
- •Enabling rapid detection and response mechanisms
These initiatives aim to bridge the gap between pilot programs and full-scale deployment, ensuring that enterprises can leverage AI safely and effectively.
